USA’s Ben Shelton produced a stunning performance to beat defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and reach the US Open semifinals at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday.Shelton defeated World No. 2 Alcaraz in a five-set thriller, winning 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 to book his place in the last four.The American fought through a dramatic deciding set before winning the final tiebreak and completing one of the biggest wins of the tournament.The match went down to a tiebreak in the fifth set after both players traded sets throughout the contest.Shelton eventually held his nerve to win the deciding tiebreak and knock out the defending champion.More to follow …
