NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Thursday took strong exception to incidents of violence during campaigning for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, warning that it could stay the counting of votes and declaration of results if it is not satisfied with the response of Delhi University, Delhi Police and the Centre.“Enough is enough,” the court said while hearing the matter concerning violence during DUSU election campaigning in Delhi University’s North Campus.The court sought reports from Delhi University, Delhi Police and the government by Friday on the steps taken to control the violence.It warned that if it was not satisfied with the responses and action taken, it would pass an order staying the counting of votes and declaration of the election results.The court also observed: “Democracy can’t be converted into a criminal society.”The directions came a day before the scheduled DUSU elections, amid concerns over incidents of violence during the campaign.
