Rapper Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, shared a heartbreaking update with fans and netizens online. Posting an emotional tribute, the musician revealed that his mother has passed away. Sharing photos from her past, the rapper gave fans a glimpse into who his mother was.

On August 29, Lil Nas X posted a carousel of photos on his Instagram account, along with the heartbreaking news that his mother, Tameka Hill, has passed away. In the photos, Montero shared glimpses of his loving childhood with his mother. He shared photos of her over the years as well, along with the caption, “RIP TO THE BADDEST EVER! LOVE YOU FOREVER, MOMMY.” This one’s going to hurt,” was written in the post.

While the ‘Old Town Road’ singer tends to keep his personal life away from prying eyes, in 2020, the rapper shared that his mother was an addict, which is why they were not as close as they could be. While talking to Variety at the time, the rapper shared, “I never really talk about my mom. She’s an addict, so we don’t have the closest relationship. Even trying to get her better—things didn’t quite work out. But there’s still love.” He added that while becoming a global icon has made people love and care for him externally, his internal feelings have stayed the same regardless.A year later, in April, Nas X’s father, Robert Stafford, also posted about Tameka Hill and the struggles she has gone through over the years. Posting a photo of the three of them, Stafford wrote, “Despite what people say, @lilnasx is the greatest kid a parent can be BLESSED with. Although his mom is in a struggle with an addiction, she’s STILL a QUEEN, and he goes to great lengths to make sure we’re taking care of her.”He further added in his post, “Those who have family members and friends dealing with addiction understand that there isn’t enough money you can throw at this situation to make it right. I don’t usually address personal issues publicly but felt like this needed to be.”The rapper did not share any other details with the public about what happened to his mother.
