New Delhi: Auto industry entered the festive season with dealers receiving more cars and scooters than in any previous Aug. Whether buyers match that pace at showrooms is the next test.Passenger-vehicle dispatches rose 36.5% year-on-year to 4,39,309 units, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam) on Tuesday. But the increase comes against a weak Aug 2025, when manufacturers sent 3,21,901 vehicles to dealers. “Growth in Aug 2026 has been supported by a lower base of previous year,” Siam director general Rajesh Menon said. He expects festive demand to lift dispatches further this quarter.
