NEW DELHI: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has alleged that BJP and Sangh Parivar members are attempting to get voters’ names deleted from electoral rolls by filing Form 7, and urged the Election Commission to act against those responsible.Owaisi said printed Form 7 applications were being submitted with the name of the voter sought to be deleted, while the name and details of the person filing the form were not provided.“BJP and Sangh Parivar people are trying to get names deleted by filing Form 7. Printed Form 7 are being submitted where the name of the person whose name is to be deleted is mentioned, but the name and details of the person filing the form are not being provided. If this is happening, it is completely wrong. We are asking the Election Commission of India to take note of this. We are also informing the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana and the District Electoral Officers that this cannot be allowed,” Owaisi said.He also warned that AIMIM would launch protests in Hyderabad if the alleged practice continued.“If false Form 7 are being filed, we appeal to the Election Commission to take action against those responsible. If this drama does not stop, remember: protests bigger than those at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar will take place on the roads and streets of Hyderabad, and it will create a lot of trouble for you… Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen will not remain silent,” he said.

Owaisi had on September 9 sought a four-week extension for electors to file claims and objections against the deletion of names during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana. He had visited SIR centres in Hyderabad’s Karwan constituency on Tuesday and alleged that notices had been issued to individuals with six or more children. Following his visit, Owaisi appealed to voters who had received notices to approach AIMIM help desks or contact party leaders and workers in their areas for information and support. The Election Commission had on September 7 revised the schedule for the SIR exercise in Telangana. Under the revised schedule, the claims and objections period will end on October 7 instead of September 16, while the final electoral rolls will be published on November 9.
